Leavitt was born on December 20, 2004, in Oregon, and had a remarkable high school career. He played at several schools, including Westview High School and Pleasant Grove High School, ultimately finishing at West Linn High School. During his senior year, he was named the Gatorade Football Player of the Year in Oregon after an impressive season where he threw for over 3,184 yards and 36 touchdowns.
